About Cheryl Fuchs, Owner

Cheryl Gilberti Fuchs

Cheryl is one of those people that are born with a deep, pure love for animals in their blood.  Her parents got her her first puppy, a Beagle/Rat Terrier mix named Peppy, at the age of 2, and she has  had many different types of pets, including parrots, house rabbits and horses, throughout her life.  As a little girl, while her sister and girlfriends were playing with dolls, Cheryl could be found in the woods and lakes surrounding her home playing in and with nature.  Always bringing home injured and stray animals, she was a nurturer from the start.

In 1997, Cheryl adopted her "Heart Dog" Harley from Friends of Wayne Animal Shelter, and her life changed forever.   When Harley began having issues with severe separation anxiety and seasonal allergies, and contracted Sarcoptic Mange twice in the summer of 2000, Cheryl knew that something was wrong, but didn't know what.  Harley ate a TOP brand of kibble, he'd had all of his proper vaccinations over the past 3 years. So why was he having such issues?

Cheryl began researching alternative ways to boost Harley's health Through her research s
he came upon a book named "Food Pets Die For", which HORRIFIED her and changed the way she looked at commercial pet food diets.  In August of that same year, while researching Sarcopic Mange on the internet, she met a woman named Callie in a Yahoo chat room.  She taught Cheryl that the beginning to all healing is through the immune system.   She suggested that Cheryl start by reading a book written by one of the TOP Integrative veterinarians in the country, Dr. Martin Goldstein, DVM, "The Nature of Animal Healing".  This book opened her eyes and began her self-taught study into the world of natural raw diets, supplements, the truth about vaccinations and a natural, holistic lifestyle.  It also led Cheryl to Dr. Marty's practice, Smith Ridge Veterinary Clinic, where she learned so much from him while Harley was a patient for 2 years.  Additionally, Cheryl has taken many courses and workshops over the years with some of the nations top experts in the field of holistic care, integrative veterinary medicine and behavioral issues.

In 2004, Cheryl and a group of residents of Montville Township NJ formed the nonprofit organization "Montville Pet Parents".   MPP was incorporated in 2006, and Cheryl acted as Vice President until Harley fell ill and she had to step down to care for him in 2008.

In 2007 Harley was diagnosed with a life-altering condition called "Cauda Equina", also known as "Degenerative Lumbosacral Stenosis".  With the help of her 2 amazing vets, Dr. Marty and Dr. Anastasia Ferrante of Montville Veterinary Group, Harley lived until May 18th, 2009.  During the 2 years of his illness, Harley developed kidney and liver issues as well. Through her own extensive research, Cheryl educated herself on alternative methods of care and with the help of Dr. Marty, Cheryl was able to bring Harley out of kidney failure. His kidney function and liver enzymes remained at normal levels for the last 9 months of his life.

Cheryl has many years of hands on experience and knowledge in medical and behavioral issues using integrative methods.  She
is trained in Pet First Aid and CPR (and has SUCCESSFULLY used CPR to bring Harley back to life after a minute with no heartbeat!), and knows the first signs of illness and distress in pets, ensuring quick attention if the need arises. Due to her years of knowledge and experience, she has become a valuable resource to her friends, family and clients regarding animal nutrition, natural remedies, the truth about vaccinations, behavior problems and everything else "animal related".  She is currently studying Pet Food Nutrition, Raw Dog Food Nutrition, Acute Canine Homeopathy and Acute Canine Herbalism.

After Harley's passing, Cheryl started volunteering with various rescue organizations, helping to find homes for pets slated for death.  To this day Cheryl is a dedicated Animal Rescue volunteer and an advocate for homeless pets.

Cheryl's professional background is in Sales/Marketing/Client Relations in the Construction, Manufacturing and wholesale Pet Supply sectors.  After a company reorganization in April of 2014, her job of 11 years was eliminated.  She was finally free and in a position to form her own pet care business and pursue her true passion!  She brings the same integrity, honesty, ethics and compassion that has made her successful throughout her professional career to her Pet Care business.

Cheryl resides  in Ringwood NJ with her Yellow Lab, Jack.  Jack LOVES dogs, and is very happy to share his home with them.

"I was truly very lucky to have found such a great caregiver and friend for my dogs!"

"Every single potential client who finds Cheryl via this website has hit the doggy heaven jackpot!!"

The decision to hire a dog walker was a very difficult one for me.  I have 2 high energy dogs that are also somewhat timid around new people.  When Cheryl came to meet Roscoe & Daisy she was patient, waiting for them to meet her at their pace, nice and slow and thought out.  Now they can't wait to see her!  Cheryl shows a genuine love and caring for my furbabies.  The one hour a day she spends with them provides them with the exercise, love and mental stimulation they need to maintain their inner peace.  She even leaves journal entries on their daily escapades!!!! (I always read their journal the minute I get home from work.)  Cheryl always is there when she is scheduled and has always accommodated the impromptu visit when needed.  I was truly very lucky to have found such a great caregiver and friend for my dogs!  Thank you for all you do Cheryl!

Every single potential client who finds Cheryl via this website has hit the doggy heaven jackpot!! Cheryl is Fozzi and Silver's bestie. They literally jump for joy when they see her coming in. I know this because even though I work long hours, I still have Cheryl come by when I am home because my doggies love her so much. I just moved to the area and was so fortunate to be introduced to Cheryl within the first month. I am at peace knowing that Fozzi and Silver get some love and attention midday each day.  Fozzi and Silver also stay at Cheryl's home when our family vacations.  They LOVE hanging with their buddy Jack and sleeping in Cheryl's bed at night.  The personal attention they get lets my family enjoy themselves when we're gone  instead of worrying about our doggies.  I wouldn't use ANYONE but Cheryl!
